Amir Ramses is an Egyptian filmmaker born in 1979 who graduated from Cairo's High Institute of Cinema in 2000. Early in his career, he trained as a first assistant director under legendary auteur Youssef Chahine. Over his career, Ramses has written and directed acclaimed narrative features and documentaries that have screened and won awards across regional and international festival circuits. Among his standout works are the acclaimed documentary Jews of Egypt (2012), featured at festivals including Palm Springs, Montreal World, and Hamburg. In addition to the feature drama Cairo Time (2014), which opened the Arabian Nights program at the Dubai International Film Festival. He currently serves as the Artistic Director of the El Gouna Film Festival in Egypt.
